Why Call Genie hired us
Who was Call Genie
Call Genie, was a Alberta Canada company (“CGI”) and a leading supplier of Voice Local Mobile Search and Advertising Solutions. The IP Patented technology connected ready to buy consumers directly by telephone call with local merchants, Generative Search Experience but way back in 2005 the Merchant data and experience was provided by tellow page and directory assistance publishers. Local Business were able to advertising their products and services on a paid basis or organically. Sponsored or Paid advertising listing was at the top of the voice search results and / or the local businesses were allowed to pay for enhanced listings – i.e. more details in their business profiles withe more comprehensive details.
On 15 September 2008, Goldman Sachs with Yellow Pages Canada invested heavily into CGI and taking them to the TSX (Toronto Stock Exchange, the main board) with an initial public offering. Together, the investment bank and YP Pension fund raised some $50m CDN through the acquisition in Call Genie shares. The Investment allowed Call Genie to continue product and software development and to expand its sales & marketing division globally.
On 28 December 2011, CGI completed the acquisition of VooDooVox, a provider of Mobile Advertising Analytics. VooDooVox enabled further product development aligned to the Voice Mobile Local Search and Advertising technology of the corporation. This acquisition allowed CGI to enable smart advertsing on mobile phones and the the tracking analytics of those ads.
Clients of CGI
CGI client base included the Yellow Page Publishers, Directory Assistance Providers and in some case the Mobile Telephone Service Providers globally. Following is a list of some of the Call Genie Clients:
- Yellow Pages and Telus, Canada;
- DEX Media, AT&T Real Yellow Pages, Verizon Directory Assistance, and Bell South Yellow Pages; and
- France Telecom France and Sensis Australia.
In some cases, CGI’s technology was used as the primary voice search engine, and if the Client could not monetise the call ten it was passed off to Google search.
Why Hire Mr. Logue
In 2005, Call Genie contracted Mr. Logue as their Sneior Vice President, Sales & Marketing based in Canada, Brazil and Australia. Call Genie needed an experienced sales executive to drive their efforts globally while recruiting a salesforce. Mr. Logue had just finished his last assignment as General Manager, the Americas for LHS and was known to have great contacts in United States, Canada and Latin America and contacts the Call Genie required. His sales experience & knowledge, innovative & lateral thinking and proven results made him ideal to be hired by Call Genie.

I originally met Mr. Darren Logue when we tried to hire him as the SVP, Sales & Marketing at ADC Telecommunication Asia Pacific. he rejected our offer to start his own group of companies at SVI. In 2005, I hired Mr. Logue as our SVP, Sales & Marketing at Call Genie. He had completed another contract at LHS Americas and had successfully sold his SVi group of companies. Additionally, Call Genie was a startup and required an innovative & lateral thinker, high energy & motivated individual, with proven sales results.
Mr. Logue was hands-on and started our sales campaigns directly himself, based off a single reference client in Canada. He secured clients in the USA, UK, France and Australia that enabled Call Genie to reruit and expand our salesforce globally. His sales results speak for Darren but he was also focused on successful deals with cashflow and gross profitability foremost in deal negotaions.
